Walk & Roll Springfield: Active Transportation Plan
Walk & Roll Springfield is the City's new 20-year Active Transportation Plan — and Springfield's first-ever pedestrian plan — that will guide future investments in sidewalks, bikeways, and crossings to close network gaps, improve safety, and better connect people to the places they need to go.
Project Overview
The City of Springfield is working with Alta Planning + Design on Walk & Roll Springfield, a new Active Transportation Plan that will help guide future investments in sidewalks, bikeways, crossings, trails, and connections to transit over the next 20 years. This plan will also be Springfield’s first-ever pedestrian plan. Through this planning process, we will identify ways to:
- Improve walking, biking, and rolling* safety
- Fill gaps in the sidewalk and bikeway network
- Improve east-west and north-south connections
- Help people get to the destinations they care about (such as schools, jobs, parks, shopping, and transit stops)
*Rolling includes using wheelchairs, mobility devices, scooters, skateboards, or other wheeled ways of getting around.
