The Planning Commission in its role as the Committee for Citizen Involvement (CCI) will review, provide input on, and approve the draft Community Engagement Plan for Phase One of the Housing Futures Project. Housing Futures is a multi-year housing planning process that Springfield must undertake to comply with Statewide Planning Goal 10: Housing. Through this planning process the City will inventory Springfield's buildable residential lands within the urban growth boundary (UGB), compare the capacity of buildable land against projected future housing need, and determine whether sufficient buildable land exists to accommodate 20 years of growth. If not, the City will identify measures to take to accommodate needed housing. The City will also identify what other actions it can take to support housing production, affordability, and choice to meet its housing needs.
